Description:
Medium-sized, small billed, distinctly featured thrush. Prominent supercilium contrasting with dark crown and ear-coverts; spotting across breast, forming breast-band and continuing down flanks and largely chestnut wings. First-winter birds can be very dull, with chestnut in wings sometimes not apparent.
Distribution:
Vagrant to the central parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, with no latest records. Usually in hillside scrub, open grassy areas, sparse woodland, cultivated farmland, orchards and grassland with scattered trees, from foothills to 3000m.
Behavior:
Forages mostly on the ground, but also in fruiting bushes and trees. Mainly feeds on invertebrates including beetles, locusts, ants, earthworms, spiders, insect larvae and plant fruits and seeds. On passage in takes chiefly grapes and buckthorn berries, also rowanberries.
